Thunder Ape
A mighty sounding primate found on Rund Isle, named after their fur patterns and their vocalizations. Thunder apes bore a deep, black fur, accentuated with yellow streaks that evoked the forking of a lightning bolt. These yellow accents in thunder ape fur are so vibrant that they acted fluorescent, giving them a look like lightning itself was running through their bodies. Combined with their bright yellow eyes, when sailors first arrived on Rund Island, thunder apes were thought to be magical creatures, which they weren't in the slightest.
Thunder apes were aggressive and territorial. They made loud, deep rumblings that could be easily mistaken as thunder!
Thunder apes were about the size of an adolescent human, although built much wider and heavier. They were capable of picking up objects to use as improvised weapons against those who provoked them. Smart smugglers who used Rund Island as a safe cove found ways to hide their stashes within the borders of thunder ape territory, making it extremely hard for those who sought to burgle them.
An unfounded conspiracy among the lower rungs of the Riptide Ring's social circles suggested that thunder apes were the result of experiments performed by Hyperius Tiamus Dominus.
